The report mentioned that this young paraplegic locked himself in his unit for 8 years because there was a set of stairs with 5 steps. Because of these 5 steps, he found it inconvenient to go out without assistance, so he decided to lock himself in the unit living like a prisoner. Worse still, there were and is still very limited facilities for wheelchair users to get around in Hong Kong. This poses major challenges and inconvenience for the wheelchair users without assistance!
Deeply touched by this true story, our inventor Alan Lee started to create an ideal wheelchair to combat the problem of barriers;
He also had taken into consideration the costs of a well-designed wheelchair and invented an affordable, safe and reliable stair-climbing wheelchair. This would enable all wheelchair users in the world to break the barriers and live in a world of freedom without obstacles. After a year of research and development, Alan achieved an initial success in his creation.
2011
In October 2011, this product successfully obtained its recognition and the inventor was successful in obtaining its patent right.
In December 2011, the invention was honored in the first release at Inno Design Tech Expo held by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
2012
The inventor gave up his design work and dedicated to establish the "B-Free Technology Ltd."
2013
In March 2013, we entered the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park successfully under the "Incu-Tech Programme" which was supported by the Hong Kong Government. With both funding and technical support, we made great progress on our R&D stage.
2014
The concept model B-Free Chair was finally launched on Aug 13 2014.
2016
As a result of further development in B-Free Chair, a new version B-Free Ranger is ready for the market. We are now working with a number of agencies and negotiating proposals on market access as soon as possible. To us, the ultimate goal is to enable more wheelchair users to break through all obstacles and live in a real barrier-free world.
